    W hen you were born, your parents proudly gave you a nam e. You m ay have

been nam ed after one o f your parents, a loved and respected relative, or a close
friend o f the family. N o m atter how the nam e was chosen, it becam e yours — your
personal identification.

    As you grew older, you learned that your nam e m eant a great deal to others.
W hen a n am e is m en tio n ed , we im m ed iately associate w ith it a person, an d w ith
th at person all m an n er o f attributes . . . appearance, abilities or skills, and, m ost
im portant, reputation.

    Buckley, too, has a nam e and a reputation which has been developed over al­
m ost h alf a century by the loyalty o f its students, teachers, parents . . . all who
are associated w ith it. T o g eth er we are building today for its future, for service to
"coming generations. As you grow, you, too, are building for your future as a
person o f w orth, capable o f service to others.

    Y o u r re p u ta tio n is a priceless possession. G u a rd it carefully, for no m a tte r w hat
changes m ay com e to our society or to our ways o f life, its im portance will never
change.
