Dear Eighth Graders:
Your final year has certainly been a historic one. The new building has changed the appearance of the School
more than any addition in the forty years Buckley has been in N orth Hills. You have had the good fortune of being
the first graduating class to have the advantages th a t the new spaces have provided. Your plaques will be first
to line the halls of the new building. Forty years from now there will be hundreds more, but yours will be the
first.
W hen you re tu rn in the years to come, and I hope you do, Buckley will look quite different. Over time, with your
growth and change, the School will probably seem smaller. Some of the things you think you remember will seem
different, even if they are not. Perceptions will change, time will alter memories. There will be changes, but much
will remain the same.
I hope th a t is also tru e of you. I hope you will continue to grow in character and intellectual curiosity. You are
ready for change, the change a new school and new challenges will bring. I also hope you remain the same. Retain
your exuberance and innocence, keep some of th e h eart of the child forever. You will be better for it.
Remember Buckley, your classmates and your teachers, and come back often.
