                                            12 Years at Buckley

Dear Eighth Graders,
Oh, what a journey it has been! A good many of you have been around Buckley since birth as your parents came

and went with your older siblings. Three members of your class are “ Lifers” - the first to go from Nursery through
Eighth Grade at Buckley. And now it is time to go.

Individually, and as a group, you have contributed a great deal to Buckley. You are definitely performers. One of
my lasting memories of you will be your Third Grade play, “ The Wizard of Oz.” It was a great show.

I hope your path through Buckley has been as exciting and challenging as the “yellow brick road” was for Dorothy
and her friends. Remember the fears and worries you have faced in your years at Buckley. Having conquered them,
you should have confidence you can do so again wherever you are. Remember the friends you have made along the
way and keep in touch with them. Most of all, remember that success depends on you. Be wary of phony promises
and look inside yourself for what you need — you have all the stuff (and the stuffing) you need.

As you move on, hang onto your dreams. They can come true and not just “ over the rainbow. ” There will be clouds,
and troubles will not always just “melt like lemon drops.” There will not be a wizard who can make everything right.
But continue to dream and know that, just like Dorothy, you will find people along the way to help.

Finally, Buckley is not home and it is not Kansas, but I do hope you will want to come back, and we will always
welcome you. Good luck.

   Sincerely,

                                                                                                                  7
